Manchester United Transfer News: Latest Arturo Vidal, Renato Sanches Rumours
Bayern Munich coach Carlo Ancelotti
has said Arturo Vidal will not join
Manchester United this summer as
he wishes to retain the Chile
superstar.
Colin Harvey of the Daily Star
reported United have revived their
interest in the midfielder, but
Ancelotti has declared the player
will not leave Bavaria at present.
"For Vidal, there is no way," said
Ancelotti. "He's our player and I
have a lot of confidence in him. I
know there are rumours and we're
used to rumours. He'll stay with us
100 per cent – I'm confident about
that."
United have held a long-term
interest in the dynamic player, who
has previously admitted he nearly
moved to Old Trafford before
switching to Der FCB, per Harvey.
"Yes, there was a chance to come to
England," Vidal said. "It was last
summer, and at one point, we
thought that is what would happen.
I liked the opportunity that they had
offered me, but eventually it did not
happen and I chose to come to
Bayern. I wanted to come to a team
this strong and to a project that is so
ambitious."
Vidal featured 35 times for Bayern
in the Bundesliga and UEFA
Champions League last season,
according to WhoScored.com ,
scoring seven goals.
United have laboured in midfield in
recent years, culminating with the
world-record signing of Paul Pogba,
and Vidal would be the perfect
partner for the mercurial
Frenchman.
The pair had great success together
at Juventus , and coach Jose
Mourinho will want to add
experience to accompany Pogba's
developing talents.
In other Red Devils news, Ancelotti
has admitted Renato Sanches could
leave Bayern after reports of a loan
switch to the Theatre of Dreams.
Dave Fraser of The Sun reported the
prodigy could join United for a year
after they missed out on his transfer
last summer.
According to Louis Sealey of Metro,
Ancelotti confirmed a decision is yet
to be made on the midfielder's
immediate future.
"At this time, he's training with us,"
said Ancelotti. "We have to make a
decision. A move could be a
possibility but there is also a chance
he could stay with us for the
season."
Here is Sanches in action:
Sanches is desperate to find a stage
after a year on Bayern's bench, and
a temporary switch to United could
help Mourinho secure a
permanent deal in 12 months.
The youngster has the dynamic
profile needed to thrive in the
Premier League, but his lack of
experience could restrict his starting
role—as it has in Germany.
Pogba has blended with Ander
Herrera in United's midfield, but
there is a lack of depth in the centre
of the park.
The 19-year-old can play as a
defensive midfielder but also
operate as a forward-thinking player,
as United allow Pogba additional
freedom with the ball at his feet.
